For the first time in program history, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women’s basketball team is receiving votes in the D3hoops.com Preseason Top 25 Poll. The Cru is one of three American Southwest Conference programs mentioned in the poll.

UMHB received votes worth five points after winning 23 games and advancing to the ASC Championship Game last season. The poll has defending national champion Amherst is picked #1 with 21 first-place votes and 617 total points. Defending ASC champion East Texas Baptist comes in at #14 with 260 total points and U.T.-Dallas is ranked 22nd with 107 points.

The Cru women finished 23-5 overall and went 14-3 in ASC play last season. UMHB advanced to the championship game of the ASC Championship Tournament before falling to East Texas Baptist 71-70. The Cru expects to return 11 letter winners and three starters this season. The UMHB women will open the 2018-19 season with an exhibition game at Division I North Texas on November 3rd. The Cru’s home opener is set for November 20thagainst Texas Wesleyan at 6 pm.
