Men’s Soccer ties McMurry 2-2

BELTON, Texas   – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men’s soccer team played McMurry University to a 2-2 draw Saturday afternoon in Belton. The tie moved the Cru to 10-3-1 on the season and 6-2-1 in American Southwest Conference action, while the War Hawks went to 4-7-4 overall and 3-5-2 in league play.

Seth Neveloff scored the game-opener for the Cru in the seventh minute, hitting a rebounded shot into the corner for a 1-0 UMHB lead. Steven Dang followed that in the 31st minute, heading in a throw-in from Nick Villanueva. UMHB held a two-goal lead until the 79th minute when Rafael Lara scored for the War Hawks. McMurry evened the game at two in the 88th minute with a goal from Miguel Esteban. Neither team was able to score in either overtime period, ending the game at 2-2.

Dang led the Cru with six shots while Roach and Nieto each added three. UMHB totaled 20 shots in the contest while the War Hawks had six. Travis Aday played the full 110-minute contest for UMHB, making one save with two goals allowed. Aidan Keane played the whole contest for McMurry, making five saves with two goals allowed.

UMHB returns to action on Monday, October 22nd in a 7:30 p.m. match against Hardin-Simmons University at the UMHB Soccer Field in Belton.
