BROWNWOOD, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team sealed and undefeated ASC season with a 3-0 sweep over Howard Payne University Saturday afternoon in Brownwood. UMHB ended regular-season ASC play at 15-0 in conference with a 22-2 overall record. The YellowJackets ended at 2-13 in conference action and 4-21 overall.
UMHB took the YellowJackets in straight 25-20, 25-18, 25-10 sets. Miranda Klein led the Cru with 10 kills while Sarah Paolini and Hope Hoelscher each added eight. Jenna Gillean and Corinne Novak were also big offensive contributors, each putting up seven kills. UMHB hit .429 in the match, powered by Cory Jo Martin with 36 assists. Defensively, Cierra Pope led the Cru with 12 digs while Novak added eight and Klein had six. UMHB totaled three aces, 36 digs and four team blocks, limiting the YellowJackets to a .111 hitting performance.
UMHB returns to action on Wednesday, October 24th in a 6 p.m. match at Trinity University in San Antonio.
