BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women’s soccer team earned a 3-1 win over McMurry University Saturday afternoon in Belton. The win improved the Cru to 9-3-2 on the season and 8-1 in American Southwest Conference action while the War Hawks fell to 5-10-1 overall and 3-6-1 in league play.
McMurry took a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute before Chelsea Graham responded for the Cru, netting the equalizer off an assist from Taylor Marques for a 1-1 tie. That score held until the 36th minute when Graham assisted Grace Greenly for the go-ahead goal to put UMHB up by one. Emily Blaettner added one more goal for the Cru in the 88th minute, scoring off another Graham assist to seal the 3-1 win. UMHB outshot the War Hawks 20-5 in the match. Emmy McMaude earned the win in the net for UMHB, playing a full 90-minute contest with two saves. Cindy Villasana took the loss for McMurry, giving up three goals with six saves.
UMHB returns to action on Monday, October 22nd in a 5 p.m. match against Hardin-Simmons University at the UMHB Soccer Field in Belton.
