The City of Belton and the Texas Department of Transportation are seeking the community’s input on an upcoming road project.
On Thursday, TxDOT and the City of Belton held an open house and public hearing to hear the community’s thoughts on plans to renovate S. Loop 121 in Belton.
TxDOT said their plan is to add lanes, sidewalks and bike lanes to the roadway, starting with Lake Road and going to the I-35 by the Bell County Expo Center.
They said the reason they want to expand the road is to help with the growing population in the area.
TxDOT said the project is expected to cost about $40 million and they plan to begin work in 2021.
All public feedback must be submitted to the Texas Department of Transportation by Nov. 2, 2018.
