Texas A&M women’s golf tees off at the Betsy Rawls Invitational at 8 a.m. Friday at the University of Texas Golf Club. The field features four ranked squads, including three in the top 10.
The Aggies are joined in the 13-team field by host No. 6 Texas, No. 1 Alabama, No. 7 Florida, No. 16 Kent State, Baylor, Colorado, New Mexico, North Texas, SMU, Texas, Texas State, Texas Tech and Tulane.
Courtney Dow, Brooke Tyree, Amber Park, Katie Finley and Ava Schwienteck enter the competition for the Aggies at the par 72 / 6,491-yard track in the state’s capital. Dow ranks fifth at Texas A&M with a 74.24 career stroke average, and will enter the school’s career top 10 for par-or-better rounds with her next one. Tyree is averaging 72.00 strokes per round in her first collegiate season, having shot at least even par three times in five rounds.
Park is coming off of a school-record performance at the Schooner Fall Classic with a 54-hole score of 11-under par, shooting in the 60s each round to finish third. She is on a school-record pace with a 69.20 stroke average through five rounds. Finley returns for her second collegiate tournament, shooting a 2-over 215 in her debut. Schwienteck is in the lineup for the third straight tournament after a gutsy performance in Norman, Okla., that saw her shoot even par over the last 36 holes after an 83 in the opening round.
