Connally ISD officials announced they and Mexia have agreed to play Friday's game at Midway Panther Stadium to avoid potential bad weather. Officials also moved the kick off time up to 7 p.m.
Still, Connally doesn't have much to be upset about. At 2-1 in district, the Cadets are in the drivers seat for a title after beating Lorena two weeks ago.
Head coach Shane Anderson knows the rest of the road will not be easy for his Cadets.
"Getting there is one thing, but staying there is the hard part. . . Our kids have a goal of winning that district championship. We're going to do everything we can, cross every 'T' and dot every 'I' to be there at the end."
Offensively, Connally has scored 30 or more in three straight weeks, while the defense is flying to the football and winning the turnover battle. Connally quarterback Gaylon Glynn says Mexia isn't going to care about any of that.
"Mexia, you know, they have a bunch of athletes just like us, you know? They're going to play us. They're not going to worry about if we're 2-0 or not so it's our job to come out and play."
Fans will see which team takes care of its job Friday night at 7 in Panther Stadium.
