Baylor baseball announced its 2019 schedule on Tuesday. The 52-game slate in the fourth year of the Steve Rodriguez tenure features 30 home games and 17 games against seven different opponents who advanced to the 2018 NCAA postseason.
Highlights for the 2019 slate include home weekends against conference opponents West Virginia (March 22-24), Texas (April 5-7), Oklahoma (April 12-14) and Kansas State (May 3-5).
Coming off a 2018 season where the Bears won the Big 12 Tournament Championship for the first time in program history and made the NCAA Tournament for the second-straight season, the Bears will open 2019 on Friday, Feb. 15 with a four-game series against Holy Cross.
The first road test of the season will be a midweek contest at Texas State on Feb. 19.
The Bears then return home for a four-game homestand as they welcome Cornell for a three-game set starting Feb. 22 and then host 2018 NCAA Regionals participant Dallas Baptist on Tuesday, Feb. 26.
A big, early test for the Bears comes in the form of the 2019 Shriners Hospital for Children Classic at Minute Maid Park in Houston March 1-3. The Bears will face Texas A&M, Rice and then Texas State in the loaded field.
The Bears return home for a midweek vs. UT Arlington on March 5, before heading out of the road for a test against former Big 12-member Nebraska, March 8-10.
A four-game homestand follows, as the Bears host Abilene Christian on March 13 before welcoming Cal Poly, March 15-17.
A Tuesday contest at Sam Houston State is slated for March 19 before opening conference play vs. West Virginia at home, March 22-24. The West Virginia series is followed by two games against 2018 NCAA Regionals team Texas Southern on March 26th and 27th, ending a five-game homestand, the longest of the season.
Next the Bears head out on the road for four contests, first heading to Kansas for a three-game conference slate, March 29-31 and then heading to Dallas Baptist for a Tuesday contest on April 2.
A three-game test against conference foe and 2018 NCAA Super Regional participant Texas is set for April 5-7 at Baylor Ballpark, before a midweek at UT Arlington on April 9.
The Bears return home for four, hosting Oklahoma, a 2018 NCAA Regoinals team, April 13-14 and then Sam Houston State on April 16.
A three-game road set at 2018 College World Series participant Texas Tech, April 18-20, is followed by a Tuesday game vs. Stephen F. Austin at Baylor Ballpark.
A three-game road test at TCU is next, April 26-28, before heading back home to host Lamar, April 30.
The Bears close out the regular season with two weekends of conference play. The final homestand of 2019 is set for May 3-5 vs. Kansas State and a big road series at 2018 NCAA postseason participant Oklahoma State, May 16-18, will close out the regular season.
The Big 12 Championship will be held at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City, May 22-26, with NCAA Regionals starting May 31.
The Bears return their entire starting lineup and pitching rotation in 2019 and are led by Big 12 Pitcher of the Year Cody Bradford and Gold-Glove Award winner catcher Shea Langeliers.
