BELTON, Texas – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football player De Jackson has been named American Southwest Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 6th. Jackson was recognized for his performance in the Cru’s 26-0 victory over Hardin-Simmons University on Saturday.
Jackson, a senior linebacker from Lindale High School, had a team-high seven tackles in his first start of the season. Six of Jackson’s tackles were solo stops and he also broke up a pass. He led a Cru defense that posted the first shut out of the Cowboys since 1993. UMHB held a HSU offense that was leading the country in total offense to just 222 yards in a 26-0 victory that put the Cru in sole possession of first place in the ASC.
UMHB returns to action with another ASC game at Howard Payne University on Saturday. The Cru will take on the Yellow Jackets (1-4, 1-3 ASC) in a 1 pm kick at Gordon Wood Stadium in Brownwood.
