The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women’s soccer team earned a 4-1 win over Belhaven University Thursday evening in Belton. The win improved the Cru to 5-2-2 on the season and 4-0 in American Southwest Conference while the Blazers fell to 1-7-1 overall and 1-3-0 in league play.

UMHB outshot the Blazers 10-0 in the first half but neither team was able to score. Chelsea Graham broke the drought for UMHB, scoring back-to-back goals 42 seconds apart to put the Cru up 2-0. Graham then assisted Katie Cagle’s goal in the 65th minute to put UMHB up by three. Caitlyn Shaughnessy netted the Cru’s fourth goal in the 74th minute. Belhaven scored its only goal of the game off a penalty kick at the 82:50 mark.

Graham and Taylor Marques led the Cru with five shots each while Graham had a team-high two goals. Graham, Madison Link and Emily Blaettner all recorded assists for UMHB. The Cru outshot the Blazers 22-1 in the match, putting 12 shots on goal. Emmy McMaude earned the win in the net for the Cru while Georgia Jordan took the loss for the Blazers.

UMHB returns to action on Saturday, September 29th in a 2 p.m. match against Louisiana College at the UMHB Soccer Fields in Belton.
