Baylor head football coach Matt Rhule was pretty candid about his team's injuries during his Wednesday media availability.
"To be honest with you guys, I don't want to say who's good to go or not because I don't want [Oklahoma to know]," joked Rhule, "A few guys you know about they don't know so I'll let them worry about it."
One position where Rhule was clear was left guard. Usual starter Xavier Newman is out with an ankle injury so junior college transfer Johncarlo Valentin will start.
"Johncarlo is a big man at 330 plus pounds so we'll see how he does."
Rhule did also say that Christian Beard and Josh Malin are available if needed.
The Bears will head to Norman Saturday with a younger team that will be seeing its first Big 12 road action. Rhule knows that can be overwhelming, but the head Bear says winning on the road requires the same things whether you're young or old.
"The only way you can win on the road against a good team in a hostile environment is if you stay together, right?" started Rhule, "You know that they got up on you last year. You just try to weather the storm and you try to push the game to the second half. How do you do that? By having each other's back and understanding bad things are going to happen and pushing, not worrying about the crowd, or this, just play football."
Fans will get a chance to see if their Bears carry that mentality to the game Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Norman.
