Four people were injured after an 18-wheeler crashed into three vehicles on Wednesday.
According to College Station police, at approximately 9:08 a.m. officers were dispatched to the 2500 block of State Highway 6 for a reported major accident. Upon arrival, officers observed that an 18-wheeler had struck three vehicles that were traveling northbound on the highway.
While investigating the accident, officers discovered that as traffic was proceeding northbound on Highway 6, just south of the Southwest Parkway overpass, the vehicles on the highway began to slow down for traffic congestion due to an unrelated crash.
When the vehicles slowed down, an 18-wheeler that was also traveling northbound was unable to slow down and struck the three vehicles.
Four people were injured in the accident. One person was transported for incapacitating injuries, the other three were transported for non-incapacitating injuries.
In addition, oil spilled onto the highway as a result of the accident. Highway 6 between Emerald Parkway and Harvey Road will be shut down until further notice.
Officers are continuing to investigate the accident.
