The Baylor Bears have only played one road game this season, a win at UTSA.
Head coach Matt Rhule praised the Roadrunners tough environment and said he was proud of the way his team handled the challenge. That challenge will be exponentially increased in Norman this Saturday.
The Bears did three things that allowed them to win in San Antonio: generated turnovers, converted in the red zone, and didn't panic.
Last week against Kansas, the Green and Gold dropped a pick six, had penalties stall drives, and built up enough of a lead that panic wasn't an option.
Still, Baylor's players had answers to all of those problems during Tuesday media availability.
Baylor defensive back JT Woods on dropping a turnover and generating more:
"Everyone on the team got on to me for that. They told me I needed to hit the jugs machine. [To generate more turnovers] running to the ball. A lot of turnovers happen when you run to the ball and it just comes free. So we have to emphasize running to the ball and being physical with is another thing that we try to emphasize on and they're just going to start coming out."
Baylor offensive lineman Jake Fruhmorgen on eliminating holding penalties along the offensive line:
"Little things like getting your hands inside which is easily misconstrued during a game. You can lose focus on that. Just focus on it. I think this week will be drastically different because we will focus on it a little more because Coach Rhule is just hammering it into our heads and stuff."
Baylor defensive back Chris Miller on playing at Oklahoma:
"It's an opportunity to make a stamp in that stadium. I know it's a hard place to play, but I feel like this will be a good test for us and I hope we get after them."
The Bears are saying all the right things, but they need to put together the first half of the Kansas game and the second half of the Duke game to upset Oklahoma in their place.
Kickoff is scheduled for Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Norman.
