Through three games, the Copperas Cove Bulldawgs have seen a bit of everything. They had a shootout win, a defensive victory, and a road heartbreaker in district to Belton.
For new head coach Jack Alvarez, none of this was a surprise.
"We started on them early telling them we don't have much time so we'll have to have a sense of urgency. Everywhere from getting on and off the practice field to how we start and finish games to how we're going to start district and we can't just start it we'll have to finish it."
Most of these Bulldawgs were starting on JV last season, but that hasn't stopped them from getting off to one of the hottest starts in Central Texas. They aren't shying away from the playoff race with this week's game against Killeen either.
"This is a playoff game to us. We're trying to get to the playoffs and stand our ground," said senior defensive lineman Jaylan Brown.
Cove has home field advantage and we'll see if that helps them against the 'Roos. Kickoff is Friday at 7:30.
