The Texas A&M equestrian team hosts its annual Maroon & White Scrimmage at 3 p.m. Friday at the Hildebrand Equine Complex. Admission to the meet is free.
"After a few weeks of practice, I am excited to see us ride under a competition format," head coach Tana McKay said. "I am expecting some good things from our upperclassmen, and I am excited to see how the newcomers handle the collegiate format. The girls know that spots in the starting rotation are up for grabs, so it should be a fun day."
The Aggies, who are coming off a semifinal appearance at the NCEA Championship last season, return 11 starters from a year ago, including All-Americans Rebekah Chenelle (Fences & Flat), Caroline Dance (Fences), Ashley Davidson (Horsemanship) and Kalee McCann (Reining) as well as SEC Co-Freshman Horsemanship Rider of the Year, Alex Albright.
Friday's scrimmage, which will be run like a regular season meet, serves as the final tune-up before the third-ranked Aggies begin the new season at home against No. 4 Oklahoma State on Sept. 28 at 11 a.m.
