An owl was released from custody after it was captured by a Hill County homeowner.

According to the Hill County Sheriff’s Office, a young owl got into a homeowner’s chicken coup. The homeowner removed the owl and placed the owl in a pet carrier, before calling the sheriff’s office.

Animal Control Officer Rick Brooks was called to the residence and took the owl to the sheriff’s office to ensure that the bird was healthy.

Once it was determined to be uninsured, the owl was released from custody.
