UMHB football is off to a hot start, even by their standards.
The Cru have set an offensive school record, have only given up 14 points through two games, and they've done it all without head coach Pete Fredenburg.
"All my friends tell me you better quit scoring so many points or they'll realize they can do this without you," Fredenburg joked with a laugh.
The only coach the Cru have ever known returns next week, but first his team will have to get through Texas Lutheran on the road.
UMHB has played all three of their contests away so far, but it hasn't affected them.
"Our team's very adaptable It's one of those things that long plane rides and bus rides it can affect other teams but for us it's something we've all adapted to and we've showed up and played well," said sophomore center Steven Sellers.
As for Texas Lutheran, the Bulldogs lost to the Cru by 43 last season, but what really stings is that UMHB lost their shutout with just :27 seconds left to play in the game. That's something junior defensive end Eric Wright hasn't forgotten.
"We just want to keep on them make sure we don't let them score at all so that definitely keeps us going right there."
The Cru kick off at Texas Lutheran at 6 p.m. Saturday.
