Fredenburg not satisfied with Cru's record win

Fredenburg not satisfied with Cru's record win

"We're not very good at all," remarked UMHB head football coach Pete Fredenburg during his Wednesday media availability, "And the thing that is important is that our guys understand scoring 91 points against Albright is not the finished product."

Fredenburg is right. Albright is a young roster that does not have the talent to compete with a national powerhouse like the Cru, but UMHB looked a lot better than he might be crediting them for.

Running back Markeith Miller made the D3football.com weekly team with his six touchdown performance. The Cru defense stifled Albright to a paltry 7 points and lets not forget it takes a lot of execution to put 91 on the board.

Still, Sul Ross State only lost to UMHB by 14 last season and they were able to slow down a more experienced UMHB offensive line.

That Cru team didn't have a true quarterback though and after the record setting offensive showing it looks like Jase Hammack is the guy for UMHB.

"It feels good that the coaches trust me but it doesn't matter though. You still have to come out every day and compete."

The Junior transfer hadn't played a football game since high school, but it didn't seem to matter. Fredenburg lauded Hammack, but maintains he plans to play his other quarterbacks.

"Jase really plays within himself and plays within the offense. I'm really impressed with all three of [the quarterbacks]. Right now, Jase has done a great job of getting the ball delivered and executing that in what they give us."

UMHB travels to Sul Ross State this weekend for a night game scheduled for 6:30.
