The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's golf team made a run in soggy conditions, but could not catch the team leader at the TLU Lady Bulldog Classic Tuesday in Seguin. The Cru fired a 323-327=650 team total to finish in second place, 16 strokes behind Trinity University's tournament-best 319-315=634 total. McMurry University (337-333) and Concordia Texas (330-340) tied for third place with 670's and tournament host Texas Lutheran rounded out the top five at 351-342=693. A seven-team field competed in the event.
Olivia Robinson posted the best individual finish for the Cru women. Robinson's 77-81=158 total was good for a tie for third place. Cassidy Rawls tied for eighth place for UMHB after carding an 84-79=163, Taylor Abernathy finished 11th after shooting 84-81=165 and Macy Mitchell and Victoria Gleghorn fired identical 81-86=167's for the Cru to finish in a tie for 12th place. McMurry's Kendalyn Ferguson won individual medalist honors after firing a 77-78=155.
The two-day, 36-hole event was played on a par-72, 5,866-yard layout at Max Starcke Park Golf Course in Seguin. The UMHB women will return to action with the DIII National Preview on September 24-25th. That tournament will be played at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, the site of the 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Golf National Championships.
