University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball players swept the American Southwest Conference West Division Player of the Week awards for the week ending Sept. 10th. Miranda Klein was the offensive award winner while Haleigh Evans took the defensive nod. 

Klein, a junior setter from Georgetown, Texas (East View H.S.), was instrumental in UMHB’s 3-1 weekend at the Cal Lu Fornia Invitational. Klein slammed 61 kills over four matches, averaging 3.6 kills per set and hitting .351 on the weekend. She added 51 assists and six service aces, with highlighted performances against Whittier (21 kills) and No. 11 California Lutheran (17 kills.) Klein totaled 75 points on the week, adding 49 digs and 16 blocks. 

Evans, a junior libero from Edna, Texas (Edna H.S.), amassed 88 digs over four matches for the Cru. She averaged 5.2 digs per set with a season-high 29 digs against Whittier. Evans also added 28 digs against No. 11 California Lutheran. She recorded four assists and two service aces on the week.

Sydney Lopez of East Texas Baptist University was named East Division Offensive Player of the week while UT Dallas’ Lauren Schilling was the defensive winner for that division. UMHB returns to action on Friday, September 14th in a 6 p.m. match at Concordia University Texas in Austin. The Cru will then host Hardin-Simmons University on Tuesday, September 18th at 6 p.m. at the Mayborn Campus Center in Belton.
