Sixteen animals were seized from a Hewitt-area home, according to Hewitt police.
Hewitt police received a tip that a home on the 300 block of Applewood Lane had a large number of animals.
When animal control made contact with the resident, officials noticed an overwhelming smell of urine.
Police said that animal control saw several dogs in cages that were too small.
Thirteen dogs and three cats were seized and taken to the Humane Society of Central Texas.
Police said that a hearing will be held in 20 days to determine what will happen to the animals.
