University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball player Corinne Novak has been named the American Southwest Conference West Division Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending September 1st.
Novak, a sophomore outside hitter from Georgetown, Texas (East View H.S.) led the Cru to a 2-0 opening weekend at the UT Dallas Tournament. She was the offensive leader for a UMHB team that swept both Heidelberg University and University of Wisconsin-Superior. Novak slammed 15 kills against Heidelberg and 11 against Wisconsin-Superior, hitting .288 over both matches. She averaged 4.3 kills per set and recorded kills for match point in both of UMHB’s wins.
Jordyn Burnell of McMurry University took home West Division Defensive Player of the Week honors while UT Dallas’ Jillian Via and UT Tyler’s Makenna Bartlett split the East Division awards. UMHB returns to action on Tuesday, September 4th in a 6 p.m. exhibition match against Hill College at the Mayborn Campus Center in Belton. The Cru then travels to Thousand Oaks, California for the Cal Lutheran Tournament September 7th – 8th.
