UMHB will kick off their 2018 season on the road against Albright College on Saturday. Kick off is set for 1 p.m.
This will be the first meeting between the Cru and the Lions.
Albright lost their first game last weekend giving up a total of 654 rushing yards.
Although UMHB is starting the season ranked number two nationally, Head Coach Pete Fredenburg said his team is still a long way from being a good football team. He added that every year is a process, sorting through their athletes and finding the leaders.
"This is really a great opportunity to put our guys who need to grow and develop. I mean we've all watched them in preseason, and this is a great opportunity to have three road games and really develop and look for who the leaders are and who's gonna take that role," Coach Fredenburg said.
A starting quarterback has yet to be named, but Fredenburg said he will declare a starter, either Jase Hammack or Luke Poorman, before Saturday's game.
"Jase has a little stronger arm than Luke does, but Luke's very accurate and is comfortable in the pocket," Fredenburg added. "I think Jase looked better Saturday than Luke, but I think Luke has looked better at times... I don't know. I'm just not ready to just say this is the guy."
Fredenburg also believes the fact the Cru essentially had their bye week of the season week one is beneficial. He said it has allowed the numerous transfers and freshman who are expected to make an impact this year more time to figure out what Cru football is all about.
