Animal rescuers found a dog with a severely swollen neck and an open tissue wound on his neck in Houston on Wednesday.
According to KHOU, rescuers found Gus at a southeast Houston apartment complex. They took him to the Vergi Animal Hospital in Houston where x-rays showed at least 25 pellet wounds, with some pellets still lodged in him.
Gus' head is still swollen to an abnormal size. Rescuers say that's because there's been a shoestring tied around his neck, cutting through his flesh.
Gus was transported to the Texas A&M Small Animal Clinic to see a soft tissue specialist. On Thursday, Houston K-911 rescue said they were waiting for Gus and the specialist will provide the best care possible.
