Baylor soccer freshman forward Taylor Moon was named Big 12 Freshman of the Week, announced Tuesday by the conference office.

Moon assisted on the game-winning goal in the 80th minute at Florida Atlantic, taking a pass up from Raegan Padgett and finding Kennedy Brown on a breakaway for the score in a 1-0 Baylor win.

Moon’s assist tied her with her former high school teammate and last week’s Big 12 Freshman of the Week, Maddie Algya, for the team-high in points scored on the year, with both freshmen totaling six points through the first four contests.

The award for Moon is the 34th overall conference weekly honor in program history, the 13th for the top freshman, formerly referred to as the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week.

Moon and Algya give Baylor a sweep of the top freshman honors through the first two weeks of the season and tie Baylor with Texas for the most conference honors overall on the year.

Joining Moon on the week two honor roll are Cyera Hintzen (Texas) as the top offensive player and Nicole Curry (Texas) as the leading defender.
