The Copperas Cove Bulldawgs lost their winningest coach ever, but gained another state champion.

Head Coach Jack Alvarez won a state title with Ennis, and as the new alpha dog for Copperas Cove, he hopes to do the same here.

The Bulldawgs are coming off a 5-6 season. But, with a roster full of former JV all stars who know how to win, Alvarez is liking what he's seeing so far.

Fall camp has consisted of a lot of teaching, implementing new offense and defensive schemes.

But, the coaching staff believes this team, if they can buy in, will find success this season.

"Anytime there's a transition, it's like, anytime you go somewhere new whether it's to a new restaurant, everybody's checking it out. Hey is this place gonna be good? Is this guy gonna be good? Can I trust him? Can we trust you? And I told them, we're gonna play the kids we can trust, and hopefully, they're seeing that we're gonna give them something to trust in," Head Coach Jack Alvarez said.

"We all have the same mentality. We all want to get to the same place. So, buying in is just really part of it," Mark Gastelo, Bulldawgs senior tight end/linebacker said.

The Bulldawgs will get an international start to their season with a home game against a team from Monterrey, Mexico on the 31st.
