The Lorena Leopards are returning a fair amount of athletes on both sides of the ball and will look to light up the scoreboard come Friday nights.
Injuries hurt leopards last year. And while that proved for a difficult season then, the young guys who had to step up now have valuable experience that they're bringing into this season.
Head Coach Ray Biles believes his guys have a working knowledge of what has to be done in order to be successful in such a physical and difficult district, and the Leopards, especially the seniors, are ready to do whatever it takes.
"These kids that are seniors when they were sophomores, we won a district championship, and last year we finished third in the district. So they've seen both sides of that," Head Coach Ray Biles said. "We've got a lot of kids that they're motivated by the fact we didn't get what we were asking for last year and we gotta work and hopefully we'll be able to put forth the effort and time to make it happen this year."
"We always want a district championship here, so that's one of our goals. But, I know we kind of take it one game at a time because we don't want to look to far ahead," Colton Tucker, Leopards senior center, said.
Lorena will host China Spring week one.
