Former Texas A&M Equestrian All-American Avery Ellis won American Quarter Horse Association Collegiate Horsemanship Championship Monday at the American Quarter Horse Youth Association World Championship Show.

A College Station, Texas, native, Ellis won the all-SEC final on Huntin for Faith, defeating Georgia’s Bailey Anderson and Graysen Stroud and Auburn’s Kelsey Jung.

One of 16 collegiate equestrian riders in the competition, Ellis advanced to the final by topping Auburn’s Deanna Green with a 153 in the first round, and Oklahoma State’s Erin Bosse, 151.5-142.5, in Monday’s semifinal.

Ellis previously won the event in 2016.
