Jimena Lopez, a sophomore on the Texas A&M soccer team, is set to compete in the 2018 FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup starting Sunday.

The World Cup is being held in France from Aug. 5-24.

Lopez was selected to play for championship on Mexico U-20 Women's National team by head coach Christopher Cuellar as the team looks to win their first U20 title.

Group play will consist of games against Brazil, North Korea and England. The Brazil and England matches will air on FS1.

Lopez played a key role in Mexico defeating the United States for a World Cup spot back in January. She scored in a penalty-kick shootout where Mexico claimed victory 4-2.

As a freshman at Texas A&M, Lopez played defender for the Aggies in 20 matches, 10 of which were starts.

Lopez earned the title of SEC Freshman of the Week after scoring twice in the opening weekend last year.
