The Little League Southwest Region softball tournament was held in Waco this past week, and Sunday a champion was named.
Texas West, a team from the San Antonio area, was representing the Lone Star State against Louisiana in the championship game.
The first pitch was noon Sunday.
It was a tight game finishing tied 1-1 in regular innings and forcing both teams in a sudden death.
Louisiana would capitalize and knock a runner on second in to win the game 2-1.
But, the Texas West aren't letting the loss keep them down.
"We're a really good team, and we could've made it. But, you know, sometimes that happens, and we just gotta keep trying again next year and the years on," Chenai Chawayipira, Texas West's right fielder, said.
The Louisiana team will travel to Portland, OR for the Little League Softball World Series.
