Baylor director of women’s tennis Joey Scrivano announced the Bears’ 2018 fall schedule Wednesday, which includes five dates of competition.
The Bears open the 2018-19 season on the west coast with the Oracle ITA Masters in Malibu, Calif. Sept. 20-23. Then, Baylor plays host to the H-E-B Invitational at the Hurd Tennis Center Oct. 5-7. After a five-day event Oct. 18-22 at the ITA Texas Regionals in College Station, the Bears head to Tampa, Fla. Nov. 2-4 for the Dickie V Intercollegiate Clay Classic.
Baylor closes the fall season with qualified entries at the ITA National Fall Championships in Surprise, Ariz. Nov. 7-11.
“We are excited for our players to compete in the top collegiate events as well as the ITF pro circuit this fall,” Scrivano said. “It’s all about getting our student-athletes growing and improving. Everything we do matters and this fall is important in our preparation for spring competition.”
The Bears are coming off their 14th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance collecting an 18-14 overall record in 2017-18. The Bears upset No. 18 Kansas to earn a spot in the semifinals round of the Big 12 Championship before falling to eventual champion, Texas.
Baylor’s returnees for the 2018-19 season include juniors Jessica Hinojosa and Angelina Shakhraichuk along with four sophomores in Livia Kraus, Katelyn Parker and Kristina Sorokolet and Dominika Sujova.
