Firefighters battle 15-acre grass fire in Lacy Lakeview
Firefighters from four different cities are working to put out a grass fire in Lacy Lakeview that has spread to about 20 acres.
The fire broke out around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday in the 600 block of Spring Lake Road.
A spokesman for Texas A&M Forest Service said it is not known how the fire started, but current heat conditions caused it to spread quickly.
The fire started in a field and spread to the road and an area of nearby farmland, as well as neighboring woods.
As of 3:30 p.m., the fire was 100 percent contained. Texas A&M Forest Service said it will take a few hours to completely put out the fire.
"The fire made a significant run in the grass," said Mary Leathers with Texas A&M Forest Service.
Firefighters are trying to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further into the woods.
Fire departments from Lacy Lakeview, Bellmead, Elm Mott and Ross have responded.
