Kaci Donaldson of Lorena and Cambree Aguirre of Crawford will play in the Texas Girls Coaches Association softball All-Star game Tuesday in Arlington.
Coaches from across the state nominate 120 finalists, from which, only 14 girls will be chosen per team and Central Texas has two on the roster.
Donaldson, a third baseman for the leopards, is already committed to Army West Point, but for a player like Aguirre who lost some time pitching due to an injury games like these can showcase her talent against bigger competition.
"I see this as much of a team award as an individual award," said Aguirre, "because if it wasn't for my defense backing me up I wouldn't be here."
The pair are a member of the 1A through 4A red team. They will play their blue counterparts Tuesday night in the Metroplex and even with most of their summers taken up playing select ball tournaments, Donaldson says these teams recognize how important the game is.
"You're playing at a competitive and elite level. It's preparing you to go to college. I think I'm prepared. I think I'm ready to go out there and ball out you know?"
