BOSQUE COUNTY, Texas — The Bosque County Sheriff's Office held an open house to showcase its new office and county jail on Friday.
County officials said the old location was outdated and too far gone to maintain. Only one of the two air conditioners worked properly, and it had faulty door locks.
The new jail can hold 64 inmates which almost doubles the amount of the previous one.
The Bosque County Sheriff's Office expects to save the county thousands of dollars with the move.
"We're having to house out of the county. It's costing about $280,000 a year for out of county housing," Bosque County Sheriff Anthony Malott said.
The Bosque County Sheriff's Office said its a cleaner and safer facility for both employees and inmates.
