The Texas Junior Livestock Association is set to host a series of stock show competitions at the Waco Extraco Events Center from June 28 - July 1.
The livestock show event features 55 different breed divisions of competition, 16 divisions of showmanship competition, five all-around competitions and a regional awards program.
It's the starter show for youngsters interested in 4-H, which is a global network aimed at teaching kids agricultural skills like raising livestock.
Kids involved will compete to earn points for prizes and scholarships awarded at the end of the stock show season.
"More than anything it's an educational experience for both people that maybe don't have a lot of experience around agriculture and are kind of getting the first taste of it," said Texas Junior Livestock Association Coordinator Lance Gilbert.
In addition to the stock show, the association also conducts an educational camp for exhibitors who show steers, heifers, swine, lambs and goats.
Organizers said aside from the livestock, the show focuses on leadership development for young kids.
The events are free to the public.
