Patrick Swanton, with the Waco Police Department, said the body of a man was recovered at a Lake Waco park on Thursday morning.

On Wednesday night, Waco police, firefighters, Lake Waco Rangers, and Woodway police responded to a possible drowning victim near Midway Park.

According to Swanton, at approximately 6 p.m. at Woodway Park at Lake Waco, a man called his girlfriend and said he was going to kill himself.

Officials found the man’s car, keys and some clothing at the lake. The fire department and Game Wardens used boats with sonar to try and locate the man's body. They also dragged the lake until the sun went down on Wednesday.

On Thursday morning, Woodway police and Game Wardens continued the search when a body floated to the surface. The body was recovered and identified as the man they were searching for the previous night.
