A new restaurant at a historic theater in Waco on Austin Avenue opened this week.
The Raleigh restaurant, which was named after a hotel that used to be across the street until it closed in the 1980s, offers a diner-style feel to its guests.
The restaurant is part of the expansion of the Waco Hippodrome, which also includes a rooftop bar, three state-of-the-art theaters and an event space for up to 200 people.
Waco Hippodrome Owner Casey Turner said the renovations will benefit downtown Waco.
"We want life down here. The better off that we all are. We want to be lit up, in action and have a life. Hopefully, that's what we do," Turner said.
She also described the renovations helped make the building an entertainment mall that preserves its history with pictures.
The rooftop bar is expected to be open in a week. The theaters with new projectors, upgraded sound and recliner seating will be ready in three weeks.
