The Texas Department of Transportation will be waiving all unpaid toll road late fees and fines prior to March 1, 2018 thanks to a new law.
Senate Bill 312 took effect on March 1, and changed the way TxDOT charges late fees, according to The San Antonio-Express.
"Rather than trying to carry forward two different violation policies within the system, the decision has been made to only move forward with the current one," TxDOT Executive Director Brandon Bass said.
The new law says drivers late fees will be charged per invoice if the toll is unpaid, and late fees will be capped at $48 for a 12-month period.
Unfortunately, customers who have already paid their late fees will not receive a reimbursement.
