Drivers are asked to find an alternate route after a water line break in Belton.
Belton police said that the incident happened just after 11:15 a.m. Tuesday. The water line break is causing a detour on E. 6th Avenue. Both lanes at the I-35 frontage road are closed to Neil St.
A boil water notice was issued for the area south of the I-35 frontage road to Birdwell St.; 2nd Avenue to the north of E. 6th Avenue. This affects neighborhoods from Continental Street to Forest Drive, including Palmetto St. and River Drive.
As of 2:37 p.m., police said the closure will last several more hours.
