Man turns himself in after stealing 26 firearms from pawn shop

Copperas Cove police have arrested a man after 26 firearms were stolen from Kwik Cash Pawn. 

Police identified the suspect as 22-year-old Christwell Mathes Jr. He has been charged with burglary of a building and theft of a firearm. 

Mathes turned himself in to the Copperas Cove Police Department on Sept. 22. 

On Sept. 3 around 10:09 p.m., Mathes forcibly entered the Kwik Cash Pawn shop at 401 W. Business Hwy 190 and stole 26 firearms before fleeing the scene.

Mathes received a $15,000 bond for each charge.
