Slideshow: Nine arrested in Waco prostitution sting
The Waco Police Department said they conducted a prostitution sting over the weekend that led to the arrest of nine people.
Police said that officers set up fake accounts on online ad sites, such as Backpage.com. On the ads, officers pretended to be a woman who provided sex services for money.
Police said the men would attempt to meet the woman at a local hotel, but met up with officers and were arrested instead. Police added that 15 charges were filed over the weekend, including charges of prostitution and online solicitation. Some of the suspects had existing warrants.
Arrested were Juan Martinez, Steven Baker, Brandon Penn, Arthur Shields, Francisco Rivera, Justino Perez, Alberto Gonzales, Todd Hargrave, Justino Vega and Shayla Harvey.
They also said they impounded a total of 8 vehicles. The Waco Police Street Crimes Unit headed up the operation.
