Killeen Police said they are investigating after a man was shot during an online dating meet-up on Tuesday.
Police said they were told that the 30-year-old woman who lived at the home and a 43-year-old man made an arrangement to meet through an online dating site. During their meeting, the man and woman began fighting.
A second man in the home intervened during the argument, and the man who was arguing with the woman shot him. The suspect fled in an unknown direction in an older model white sedan.
When police arrived, the woman was treated and released on scene. The man was transported to Baylor Scott and White in stable condition.
The shooting happened on the 5700 block of Dan Dr. near Hay Branch Elementary School.
The Killeen Police Department would like to remind the public about the dangers of meeting strangers for internet sales and online dating. Detectives have taken notice of recent incidents that have taken place after a victim has made arrangements to sell an item through various online marketplaces and agreed to meet the suspect in person. In addition to the online marketplaces, the danger extends to online dating and social sites that cater to prostitution and casual encounters.
