One driver is dead tonight after a fatal wreck on US Highway 84 involving two cars and an 18-wheeler. The woman has been identified as 55-year-old Shelley Burkett of Oglesby.
The two cars were traveling westbound when the Honda car slowed to make a left turn. The Kia, traveling behind the Honda, struck the Honda from behind and pushed it into the path of a westbound tractor-trailer hauling an empty tanker.
After the collision, both the Honda and tractor-trailer caught fire. The driver of the 18-wheeler escaped without injury; the driver of the Honda died on impact.
The female Kia driver from Lampasas was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
DPS is investigating the crash. They would like to remind drivers to be aware of driving conditions and remain alert behind the wheel.
