Temple playground fire believed to have been set intentionally

Temple firefighters are calling a playground fire intentional after a blaze damaged equipment and a tree.

Firefighters responded to what was thought to be a grass fire at Wilson Park around 6 p.m. on the 2200 block of Curtis B. Elliot Drive.

Authorities say that when they arrived, a large playground assembly was burning and a nearby tree was damaged in the blaze.

Damage to the park is an estimated $250,000.
