Texas Department of Transportation has temporarily closed the State Highway 174 Bridge at Brazos River/Lake Whitney (Kimball Bend Park) in anticipation of water overflow.
According to a release, TxDot has closed the bridge indefinitely. The decision comes after a report from the Army Corps of Engineers indicated water levels will overflow the roads in the area.
Drivers traveling northbound on SH 174 from Meridian will detour via FM 927 to FM 56 to FM 1713 to FM 933 through Blum to SH 174.
SH 174 Southbound drivers from Cleburne will detour via FM 933 to FM 1713 to FM 56 to FM 927 then to SH 174 at Morgan.
Officials say once water levels recede and the bridge is inspected it will be reopened.
