The Class 1A Division II state championship game between Balmorhea and Richland Springs has been postponed due to COVID-19 concerns.

The UIL says they have been notified that due to COVID-19, the Conference 1A Division II six-man football state championship game between Balmorhea and Richland Springs will not take place in conjunction with the 1A-4A football state championship games at AT&T Stadium in Arlington this week.

At this time, all other 1A-4A football state championship games are set to go on as scheduled.

The COVID issues are at Balmorhea, according to Dave Campbell's Texas Football.

The UIL will allow the game to be rescheduled by the schools as long as the game is played by January 16.

The game was scheduled for an 11 a.m. start on Wednesday, December 16.
