UMHB women put four on All-ASC teams

BELTON, TEXAS — The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women’s basketball team placed four players on the American Southwest Conference All-Conference and All-Division teams released Monday (February 25th). The Cru had two All-Conference selections, three First Team All-West Division selections and put one player on the West Division All-Freshman Team. UMHB’s Hannah Holt was voted ASC West Division Player of the Year, Allaira Jones claimed West Division Freshman of the Year honors and Mark Morefield was named West Division Coach of the Year.

Holt took West Division Player of the Year honors while earning spots on the ASC All-Conference Team, the All-West Division First Team and the West Division All-Defensive Team. The junior guard from Lumberton High School is averaging a team-best 15.7 points per game and grabs 5.3 rebounds per contest. Holt also has 56 assists and 45 steals on the season.

Alicia Blackwell joined Holt on the All-Conference Team, All-West Division First Team and All-Defensive Team. The junior guard from Prestonwood Christian High School is scoring 10.5 points per game and averages 5.0 rebounds per outing. Blackwell leads the Cru with 85 assists and also has recorded 39 steals.

Kendall Rollins was also named to the All-West Division First Team. The junior guard from Tompkins High School averages 13.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Rollins also has 46 assists and is tied with Holt with a team-high 45 steals on the season.

Allaira Jones was voted ASC West Division Freshman of the Year and also earned a spot on the West Division All-Freshman Team. Jones, a freshman center from Gatesville High School, is averaging 6.2 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. She is shooting 49.7 percent from the field and blocked 22 shots on the season

Mark Morefield was named West Division Coach of the Year after leading the Cru to a 25-3 record and a 15-1 mark in conference play. UMHB won the ASC West Division for the second straight year and set a new Division III era school record for victories in a season. Morefield also guided the Cru women to their first NCAA postseason berth this year.

The Cru women will now play in the NCAA Division III National Championships for the first time in program history.
