BELTON, TX — The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men’s tennis team rallied at the bottom half of the singles line-up but the comeback bid fell short in a 5-4 loss to Hardin-Simmons Thursday in Belton. The Cru is now 6-5 overall and 2-2 in American Southwest Conference West Division play. The Cowboys improve to 7-7 overall and 3-1 in the ASC West with the victory.

UMHB picked up a 9-7 win from Alex Mackellar and Brian Martin at #3 doubles. HSU then swept the top three singles lines to clinch the match. Jace Mahan won at #4 singles when his opponent retired, Mackellar fought back to take a three-set win at #5 singles and Jake Boles added a straight set victory at #6 singles for the Cru. UMHB will host McMurry University for a 1 pm start on Friday in the final home match of the spring.
