No. 1 Baylor Acrobatics & Tumbling wins tri meet at Arizona Christian

PHOENIX, AZ — The Bears defeated Hawaii Pacific and Arizona Christian in a tri meet on Saturday evening, collecting a season-high 288.310 points on the day.

Baylor (8-0) won the tri meet with a score of 288.310, followed by Hawaii Pacific with 275.335 and Arizona Christian took third with a score of 256.970.

The Bears jumped out to an early 38.65 victory in compulsory and never looked back. The Bears collected three perfect 10.0s on the day, the first coming in compulsory in the toss heat.

In acro, the Bears earned their second perfect 10.0 of the day, coming through with the score in the 6 element. The Bears extended their lead to 68.10 to 67.05 and 61.10 after the first two events.

At halftime the Bears led HPU and ACU with a score of 97.75 to 96.50 and 89.55, respectively.

The Bears saw their lead balloon after the toss event, aided by a perfefct 10.0 in heat three as the Bears earned 29.70 points out of a possible 30.0.

The Bears led 127.45 to 124.40 for Hawaii Pacific and 115.85 to Arizona Christian after four events.

In the tumbling event, the Bear saw their lead improve to more than seven points, as they collected 57.350 in the tumbling event to HPU’s 53.525 to ACU’s 49.950.

The Bears capped off their night with an incredible score of 103.51 in the team event to push their final score to a season-best 288.310.

The Bears have now won 26 consecutive meets dating back to the 2017 season. The Bears are 49-1 under fifth-year head coach Felecia Mulkey and are now 1-0 against Arizona Christian and 5-0 all-time against Hawaii Pacific.

Next up, the Bears will return home to host No. 2 Oregon on April 7 at noon to close out the regular season. The meet will be televised live on FSSW+.
