WACO, Texas — The Lady Bears are back where they started at the beginning of the season. Baylor jumped four spots in the latest AP Poll to No. 2 in the country after beating former No. 1 UConn 74-58 Thursday night.

Baylor opened the season ranked No. 2 in the country, but dropped to No. 6 after losing to South Carolina in the Paradise Jam. The Gamecocks are now the No. 1 team in the country.

The Lady Bears received seven first-place votes from the 30-member committee. South Carolina received 20.

Baylor benefitted from a topsy-turvy weekend in the Top 5. Each of the Top 3 teams in the country lost. Baylor snapped UConn's 98-game home winning streak, while Arizona State upset both No. 2 Oregon and No. 3 Oregon State.

The Lady Bears continue Big 12 play Wednesday night, when they travel to Allen Fieldhouse to play Kansas. They finish the week at home against West Virginia.
